The festival is a nonprofit organization promoting the artistic, cultural and historic value of silent film. A large but unknown number of movie goers of the silent film era slept on a McRoskey!

McRoskey Mattress began its affiliation with the Canon Barcus Community House in 2002, providing new beds for each bedroom of the newly opened residential facility’s 48 apartments. In 2011 we continued to help support low income family housing efforts at Canon Barcus Community House by providing mattresses for new residents. In all we donated twelve sets including bed frames and bedding.

Since that time, this family-owned San Francisco-based mattress manufacturer has donated mattress sets for resident families upon their move-in whenever possible. Built by the Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco (ECS), the Canon Barcus Community House opened in March 2002 to provide permanent housing to homeless, very low-income families, many living with special needs such as mental illness, physical disabilities and substance use. The five-story, 48-unit building includes: four one-bedroom flats, twelve two-bedroom flats and townhouses, twenty-seven three-bedroom flats and townhouses and five four-bedroom townhouses.
