Lisa Staprans - Staprans Design

image of Douglas DurkinIn 1992 Lisa Staprans and her husband founded the company Staprans Interior Design, currently known as Staprans Design based in the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park.  Lisa’s designs grace homes in Virginia, New York, Utah, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, and throughout California.

Lisa entered college at the University of California Berkeley intent on becoming a fine artist. She graduated with a BA in Fine Arts but by that time she was captivated by the idea of using interior design to enhance people’s lives.  She moved to New York and found herself smack dab in the middle of an amazing world of design opportunity. She took a big breath and jumped into the middle of the design scene, working for large and small design firms and continuing her design studies at the School of Visual Arts and Parson’s School of Design, both located in New York City. bunk beds

“I stay with my vision and will not compromise. I love working with color, composition and layering various materials and people to arrive at exactly the right design. My training in art and architecture has proven an invaluable foundation for optimizing the use of a space and making it quietly, subtly beautiful. Refined.”

Lisa learned early on in her career that she had a special skill for bringing together the best of the best in design resources. She continues to relish this orchestration, from inception to completion. “I meet interesting, creative and inspiring people daily. Working on shared design visions has led to many fruitful long-term relationships.”

Our Clients are Taken Care of at McRoskey

McRoskey Mattress Company is on the Bay Area designer’s A List, a trusted manufacturer that Lisa and her team at Staprans Design rely upon regularly for mattresses and box springs of all sizes.“My clients are always taken care of when they walk into the McRoskey showroom. You can see that when a customer lies down on a particular bed. The salesperson is asking all the right questions. Very professional.”  She adds, “I like how they always keep us in the loop with a follow-up call after a client’s visit. Designers really appreciate attentive service like this because our clients expect it of us.”

"We have seldom had an issue with any product from McRoskey, and on the rare occasion we did, McRoskey fixed it right away. Their approach to customer service is totally consistent with our Can-Do attitude and philosophy of integrity and accountability.”

"McRoskey will customize any size, make any little change. ‘Oh you want that? We can do that.’  I had one situation where I needed a long and narrow twin mattress for an antique bedstead in a child’s bedroom. McRoskey did it, with great turnaround. This is what custom design is all about.”

The overall McRoskey package fits with Staprans Design’s goal to create beautiful comfort, a place where form and function unite. The sought-after Bay Area designer is a strong proponent of sustainability in design. This includes using local resources when possible and products that are not mass produced. Again, the handcrafted McRoskey comes to mind.

She concludes, “If people sleep well, they feel better. There’s nothing like sleeping on a great bed…with McRoskey I always have happy clients”
