"Always Looking for the Best" - Shelby de Quesada Interior Design

As a well-known and immensely respected San Francisco interior designer Shelby de Quesada is the go-to designer for local, national and internationally based clients who are looking for elegant design and custom furnishings. Shelby works with artisans to create one-of-a-kind furnishings for her discriminating client roster. High on her list of artisan partners is McRoskey.

"I only work with McRoskey, and would discourage a client or acquaintance from getting a mattress from anywhere else. Their product is highest quality and customer service couldn't be better. They can do totally custom. Sometimes I have to talk my clients into a McRoskey but they are so thankful when they sleep on their mattress and are amazed at the difference."

Shelby calls upon McRoskey for both custom and standard sizes, depending on her client's needs. "I had a bed made for a client, a curvy French Provencal bed. The mattress had to be made to match the headboard and the footboard shape. McRoskey did it. Perfectly."

She adds that McRoskey will customize the depth of a box spring, which is a plus. "For a more graceful look I order the box spring deeper than average to accommodate a taller bed skirt or dust ruffle. Before I would have to have a platform made to create the height I wanted."

The San Francisco designer also recalls a Hong Kong client she shared with architect husband Jorge. The client asked about McRoskey mattresses, and then furnished his Hong Kong penthouse apartment - and made his family very happy - with 14 mattress and box spring sets.

Shelby has a special connection to the McRoskey product and tie to the McRoskey family. First, she owns a McRoskey mattress that she simply adores. "I'm not rich but one of my basic requirements is that I have a wonderful bed. I love my McRoskey; I don't understand how anyone doesn't want to own a great mattress."

On a more personal level, Shelby's grandmother and Robin McRoskey Azevedo's grandmother were best friends. "I remember sleeping on McRoskey twin mattresses at my grandmother's house. I inherited those mattresses, which were probably purchased in the 1950s. My daughter used the beds and her friends loved sleepovers because they were so comfortable."

Shelby says that McRoskey was and is the mattress of choice for most established San Francisco families. "It just goes with life. You have a McRoskey mattress." She adds her respect for Robin. "She has taken McRoskey Mattress Company in a wonderful direction."
