Keeping Your McRoskey Mattress in Top Shape

Mattress Care Tips

1) Flip and Rotate Regularly

To best protect your investment alternately rotate and flip your mattress according to the instructions on the mattress label shown below. Give us your email address and we’ll send you an email reminder when it's time to flip or rotate your mattress.

Each year, follow this plan:
  Winter   Flip
  Spring   Rotate
  Summer   Flip
  Fall   Rotate
Once a year rotate box spring(s).

Flip head
end to foot
end.

Flip

Remember
to use the

Rotate

In addition, once a year rotate box spring(s).

Vacuum or brush the surface of your mattress and expose it to air occasionally.

2) Always Use Mattress Protector Pads to Keep Your Mattress Clean and Dry

Introducing any liquid into the mattress can mat the filling materials inside, causing a depression, and could rust the springs. These conditions are not covered by the warranty. Staining voids the warranty, so in addition to regularly flipping and rotating your mattress, keep your McRoskey mattress like new with the all-cotton mattress protector pad and / or the waterproof mattress protector. Buy both and save 10%.

3) Properly Support Your Mattress and Box Spring

To prevent sagging, use a bedframe that has rigid center support and that supports the head, foot, sides and center of the mattress and box spring. When you use a mattress and box spring in a bedstead with bed slats, use at least three rigid, no-sag slats. Click here for more on proper bed support.

4) Allow Air Circulation Under the Mattress and Box Spring

5) Cleaning Spills and Stains

Staining voids the warranty, so prevent that tragedy by using mattress protector pads.

To remove dry smudges, try using an artist’s eraser (available at art supply stores).

To remove any kind of liquid spill that soaks into a mattress or box spring:

  • Use towels to blot as much standing liquid as possible.
  • Apply gentle pressure to help absorb the liquid into the towels; do not press the liquid into the mattress.
  • Let the mattress or box spring dry completely before dressing the bed; open the windows, and train a fan or hair dryer onto the affected area.

To clean any kind of stain on the mattress or box spring:
  • Do not introduce more liquid into the mattress or box spring.
  • Use a mild soap and cold-water solution or a spray carpet cleaner.
  • If using soap and water, use a clean cloth to apply the solution to the stain (cloth should not be too wet). Using a second clean dry cloth, immediately blot the stained area gently. Repeat as necessary to remove or diminish the stain.
  • If using a spray carpet cleaner, spray a small amount of the cleaner directly on the stain. Using a dry clean cloth, immediately blot the stained area gently. Repeat as necessary to remove or diminish the stain.
  • Let the mattress or box spring dry completely before dressing the bed; open the windows, and train a fan or hair dryer on the affected area.

6) Mildew

Mildew can occur as the result of the environment in which the mattress and box spring sit. Mildew is not a warranted defect. Once it occurs, little can be done to stop or remove it. To help prevent mildew from occurring, be sure your mattress and box spring have good air circulation around and under the bed, expose the surface to air occasionally, and brush or vacuum the surface when convenient.
